REAL WEDDING: Kate & Will, Private Property, Miles QLD

Is there anything more endearing than a Groom who is absolutely smitten with his Bride? Of course you would expect this of most weddings, but there was something so sweet about the way Will looked at his Kate throughout their special day. Almost with a sense of non-belief that their story had brought them to this moment in time, the day they made a commitment forever to each other surrounded by their loved ones in an environment they hold so dear - home.

Frolicking through the cotton fields post ceremony, Will and Kate's wedding day was held on their family property 'Condabri' just outside of Miles, QLD. The properties tended gardens hosted the 200 plus guests for the couples ceremony, while the rear yard welcomed guests to the afternoon drinks marquee and also the large reception space.

A simple colour palette of crisp white and black completed the couples stationery suite and on the day signage. While additions of timber tones from the dark wood crossbacks at the reception and feminine pinks and reds from the gorgeous blooms solidified the timeless feel for the couples wedding.

Kate wore a stunning gown, again with a concentration on timeless elegance. A contrast with a touch of native foliage reminded guests of their surroundings and made for QLD's very own ode to a royal Will & Kate.

REAL WEDDING: Hannah & Brett, Ravensbourne QLD

As any wedding professional would attest too, outdoor receptions are some of the most beautiful occasions but also as equally risky. Which is why when I met Hannah and Brett and they mentioned they wanted to take the risk – I couldn’t believe our luck in the opportunity to be involved. Not only were the couple daring in their style but also their short list of locations took us to some beautiful and undiscovered parts of Toowoomba’s outskirts.

Thankfully the day was a beautiful one with the sun shining, allowing for a crystal clear view for guests down to the Lockyer Valley. We set the open air reception for over 120 guests upon a patch of lush green grass, with an abundance of festoon lights overhead. Raw timber trestles with French bistro chairs retained the outdoor, relaxed feel of the day. Surrounding seating areas with both high and low bars adjoined the formalities to the dancefloor area where guests danced the night away under the stars.

Blush pink and deep red florals complemented the warmth of the setting, with unstructured arrangements scattered throughout the eclectic tablescape. Grey chargers paired back perfectly with the floral patterned stationery suite while masses of pillar candles completed the captivating scenery.

This one was something special for our team and has since gone down in our favourites collection. Thank you again to Mr and Mrs Castle for entrusting us every step of the way and of course for the being the lovely, daring folk you are – A x

STYLED SHOOT: Enchanting gardens

The enchanting gardens that encapsulate one of Toowoomba's most renowned wedding venues, Gabbinbar Homestead inspired the aesthetic of this classically elegant styled shoot. The historical Queensland Homestead has been beautiful restored with a timeless colour palette throughout, while the gardens remain scattered with an original condition school house, stables and a mystical bamboo grove.

Combining an effortless sense of romance, this shoot played with floaty fabrics, soft textures and pastel tones. The timber components contrasted beautifully against the rose undertone of the crockery, while ceramic flatware delivered a handmade touch to the table scape.

Dewy skin and loose up-dos, paired perfectly with the soft blush and grey gowns encapsulated the graceful romance of the shoot.

REAL WEDDING: Jess & Alec, Jondaryan Woolshed

'A celebration full of love' - that would be the most apparent way of describing this fun loving journey for us. Throughout the entire planning process Jess was an incredibly calm soul - a true gift when it comes to planning a wedding.

I often say that the day before the wedding is the most insightful for us – as outsiders looking in.  We see how our clients connect with their nearest and dearest and often gain a sneak peek into how the festivities of the following day are most likely to unfold.  Let's just say – the Bride and her Maids arrived to the wedding eve wearing personalised visors (need we say more).

Being as the big day itself was set to take place in a Woolshed, it was set to be a ho-down. Featuring a dress change from the Bride, one of our favourite bands and a cheers to the Bride and Groom during the ceremony – guests were in for a treat!

To reflect the couples palpable love for one and other and their fun, adventurous personalities we combined an abundance of colour, overflowing hanging gardens and rustic urns with bright bougainvillea.

No linen insight, except the perfect pop of pink linen napkins, we continued the timber textures through to the chairs, trestles and large format signage. A decadent dessert table complimented the all-in party feel for the day and a classing table scattered with odes to the Brides father’s sheep farming past greeted guests upon entering.

Another seriously fun country 'do' with scattered heartfelt connections to the couple and their families – just the way we like it!

SECRETS OF A STYLIST: Wedding Styling Workshop with Blue Willow Weddings

For all Brides-to-be - from those newly engaged, to those nearing their final months of preparation, or even the elusive creative who simply wants to talk all things wedding for the day our wedding styling workshop is for you...

STYLED SHOOT: Understated mood

Getting to see Toowoomba's newest venue, Muller Bros before it opened to the public was an exciting prospect for us. Toowoomba's dining scene is growing at a rapid pace and we love getting to visualise the potential for our clients at the various locations launching locally.

Upon entering the venue at our first site meeting with co-owner Jeremy, we instantly knew what we wanted to capture. The raw bricks walls, original timber beams, floorboards and accenting barn doors - it was a moody dream waiting to happen.

Our concept for the shoot centred around the venues pre-existing features, while looking to accentuate them even further through a dark, winters night vibe.

We also wanted to execute something without any flowers - something a little different for us as we are such floral lovers (as we're sure you know). So instead we played with fruits, foliage and candlelight to bring the romance.

It was a dream to bring some fantastic suppliers into the Toowoomba spotlight as well, including Tash from Gold Wedding Hire with her incredible cutlery collection and Roberta from Prop it Pretty with some gorgeous decorative elements.

We also relished the opportunity to highlight the talents and stock of some of our fellow Toowoomba based vendors including Toowoomba Party Hire, Elegant Event Hire, Venecia Designs, Jill-i-cious Cakes and Lucy Sheedy Photography.
